Statement of the Problems in this study are; What techniques do
teachers use in teaching reading comprehension using the Highend teen English magazine’s articles, What problems are faced
by the teachers and What are the solutions of the problems for the second year
students of SMP 28 Semarang?
This research was
conducted at SMP 28 Semarang. The writer chose 2 English teachers and 40
students of second year SMP 28 Semarang as the population of research. The
object of this study was teaching reading using the Highend
Teen English magazine; the writer did observation to find out the problems
faced by the students in teaching reading using the Highend Teen English magazine, so through this study the researcher
can make best solution to solve the problems. The instruments of collecting the
data in this research were observation, questionnaires and checklist.
The result of the research was SMP
28 Semarang has applied the ways was teaching reading comprehension using the Highend Teen English magazine. The
ways used in teaching reading comprehension using the Highend Teen
English Magazine were : the
opening, then
the teaching and learning process :
the ways in teaching and learning reading comprehension using the Highend Teen English Magazine. and the
closing.
The problems faced by the teachers
in teaching reading comprehension using Highend Teen English magazine are: a) The media is rather
expensive, b) Very limited magazine, c) Unfamiliar words, d) Mostly the texts
are too long, e) Teacher must be well –
prepared, f) Some students
did not pay attention in teaching-learning process, g) The class was very
crowded when teacher was teaching about reading comprehension, h) The teacher
didn’t give more attention to some students who do not master the material yet.
Teachers’ ways to solve their
problems are : a) Highend Teen must be cheaper than the
price right now and teacher must have special cost for it, b) Teacher can
manage his time out of his job time, he can go to that bookstore which sells
the Highend Teen magazine, c) teacher
must give the glossary under the text, d) Teacher can anticipate by paraphrasing the texts, e)
Teacher must be well- prepared, f) Some students must pay attention in teaching-learning process, g) The
class must not be too big with many students, h) The teacher must give more
attention to some students who do not master the material yet.
And also the writer has the following suggestions related
to this research: The writer expects that English teachers, students,
readers, and writer can get some benefit from this research in which they can
